Gwynedd Opens Mission to Table Garden Gwynedd hosted a dedication for the new Mission to Table Garden, located outside the art room, near Monarch Meadow. The garden was created in memory of Susan deTuro Rein P'11, mother of Trish Rein Shaw, Ph.D. '11.
This garden will serve as an educational resource for all students. It will help to impart valuable knowledge that will encourage and lead students to eat and grow healthy food, build ecological awareness and promote sustainability, and inspire students to explore and express their creativity through drawing, painting, and environmental art.
It will also play an essential role in empowering Gwynedd to build community and combat food insecurity within our local area. Thanks to the bounty already produced by this garden, Gwynedd has begun to make donations to Maddie Dixon Food Pantry, Family Promise in Ambler, and Catherine's Cupboard at Gwynedd Mercy University.
Thank you to all who have helped make this garden a reality. Friends and family, including Susan's father Sam deTuro GP'11, generously donated money in honor of Susan, who loved to garden. Funds from the Sisters of Mercy also helped to make the installation, completed by Backyard Eats, possible. Director of Technology Patty Rosenberger P’12 spearheaded the project, bringing the beautiful garden to life.

| Alumnae Named Chief Public Defender for Montgomery County
Christine Pierce Lora, Esq. '05 has been chosen to serve as Montgomery County's new chief public defender, bringing an end to a three-year search which the county said symbolized an overhaul of their justice system at large.
Christine is a veteran of the Defender Association of Philadelphia and more recently a criminal lawyer in Collegeville. Search committee members praised her for everything from a history of advocacy for minority communities, to knowledge of data analysis, to a willingness to ask the larger, systemic questions about issues plaguing the system. |
|
|
“I believe there is no greater calling than to serve indigent defendants in the way they desire and deserve,” Christine said in a statement. “I believe we must prioritize communities and families, and advance policies that champion integration and rehabilitation." |
